When School's Out...the Club is in!

The final bell rings at Vernon ISD on an early release day. For many kids, this could mean hours at home alone, waiting for a parent to get off work, sitting behind a screen. But for Dominique, a 3rd grader, it means something very different.

Dominique hops off the bus at the Boys & Girls Club, greeted by staff who already know she’s had a long morning. She grabs a healthy snack, chats with her friends, and then heads into the art room where she gets to create and relax before homework help begins. Later, after cooking class and game room fun, she will get a nutritious supper before headed home for the day.

For Dominique’s mom, an early release day doesn’t bring stress about leaving work or worrying if her daughter is safe. She knows the Club is open early, with caring staff and programs that give Dominique exactly what she needs.

Multiply Dominique’s story by more than 400 youth in our community, and you’ll see why these days matter so much. Parents depend on us. Kids depend on us. And thanks to your generosity, we can continue to be there.

This year, our goal is to raise $35,000 during Texoma Gives, which will fully fund all 15 early release days. That means 15 days of safety, learning, fun, and peace of mind for families across Vernon.
