Let’s Save 100 Dogs
Saving 100 dogs is a daunting task, but with your help, we can make it happen! On average, dogs stay in our rescue for about two months. During this time, we need to provide them with food. Dog food typically costs around $60 per bag, so for two months, it would amount to $120. If we have 100 dogs, the total cost would be $12,000.
We also need to administer Parvo Distemper shots to the dogs. Each dog requires three shots, which cost $12.60. For a 100-dog rescue, this would cost $1,260. Additionally, we need to provide flea, tick, and heart-worm pills to the dogs. The price can vary depending on their size, but we’ll set it at $12.50 per month, which would amount to $25 for two months and $2,500 for a 100-dog rescue.
We also need to microchip every dog, which costs $5 per dog. So, for a 100-dog rescue, this would cost $500.
Our rescue has many costs, excluding vet visits. We pay the same vet fees as anyone else, which include spaying ($65), neutering ($60), and a $12.00 rabies shot. Yes, our adoption fee does help pay for some of these costs, but we’ve never priced our adoption fees to make money. The $165 adoption fee only helps pay for the next one, but never the full cost of crates, blankets, toys, treats, vetting, or puppy supplies. The only thing we have that is free is the love we give each one.
As I’m writing this, I was curious to see how many dogs we actually have in the rescue. At this moment, it’s 60 plus the three babies found in a ditch struggling to survive. Just now, we received a message of 9 newborn babies that don’t have a mom. Please consider donating to Texas Pit Crew and help us save another 100 dogs!
