The Archer Service Center was founded in 1973, by two residents of Archer City, Margaret Williams and Gloria Klaras. These ladies were eager to establish a place where seniors and disabled could gather to socialize, eat, quilt, among other activities. Their efforts paid off, and they started to serve congregate meals; soon after they began the Archer City meals on wheels route. This service helped the community so much with those who are homebound. Fast forward more than 50 years later, we extended our efforts to our neighboring city, and started the Windthorst meals on wheels route. We are so thankful that we can carry out our mission, to help the elderly and disabled in the community maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life, by providing nutritional meals, educational services, and social interaction.
