Seymour Helping Hands is a nonprofit community center located in the heart of Seymour, Texas. What began as a Facebook page to connect neighbors during the COVID-19 pandemic has grown into a vibrant, physical space where hope meets help. We are committed to filling the gaps for families, individuals, and children by offering programs that uplift, support, and strengthen our rural community.

💛 What We Do

At Seymour Helping Hands, we believe in meeting people where they are and walking alongside them. Our services are local, accessible, and grounded in dignity and respect. Some of our key programs include:

⛈️ Thunder Teddy Program

This fun and educational program helps young children understand the difference between a severe weather watch and warning. With story time, interactive lessons, and a comforting teddy bear to take home, kids learn how to stay calm and safe during storms — a big help in our storm-prone region.

🎓 Academic Achievement Incentive Program

We celebrate students who work hard in school! At the end of each grading period, students with all A’s or A’s and B’s are entered into a prize drawing. A second-chance drawing gives others an opportunity to be rewarded for effort and improvement, helping to build confidence and consistency.

🧾 Emergency Assistance

We provide direct, case-by-case help with real needs — from how to apply for utility assistance to gas for job interviews, hygiene items, medical needs, or basic home essentials. We listen first and act fast, offering support without judgment or red tape.

🧬 Genealogy & DNA Exploration

With guidance from a professional genealogist, we help participants explore their ancestry and family stories through access to 23andMe DNA testing and research tools — all at no cost to those who choose to share their results.

🎄 Holiday Outreach

From food boxes to gifts, we bring magic and comfort to families during the holidays. Every child deserves to feel seen and supported, especially during special seasons.

🛍️ New2U Program

The New2U Program offers gently used  household items, and small furniture at no cost to individuals and families in need. Whether someone is recovering from a house fire, starting over, or simply going through a tough time, New2U helps them rebuild with dignity — providing the basics many of us take for granted.

🚗 Spring Fling Car Show

This annual family-friendly event brings visitors and joy to our town with classic cars, food trucks, and vendors — all while raising essential funds to keep our programs going strong.
