Senior Citizens CLub of Petrolia

The Senior Citizens Club of Petrolia is located in Petrolia, Texas. We are a 501 C3 nonprofit. We provide Meals 5 days a week to our home bound clients, meals are available to the community for those who wish to come in to eat. Some of the meals are covered by the Area Agency On Aging out of Wichita Falls, Some meals are covered by Health and Human Services. However we only have so many free slots. It cost about $100.00 a month for someone to have a hot meal that will de delivered to them at home. We are looking for help to purchase a meal for our Senior clients. We have a wait list of a year or more at this time on Seniors waiting to get approved for a free lunch, but there is a limited amount of free slots. We have eight people right now that lunches are not covered by a agency. We get some help from TDA Texans Feeding Texans that cover a portion of these meals. 

The purpose of the Senior Citizens Club of Petrolia, INC is to organize, schedule and provide activities, social services, provide congregate and home delivered meals for the North Clay County of Texas. The area includes Thornberry, Charlie, Byers, and Petrolia. Home delivered meals average 35-40 meals a day, and congregate meals here at the center are 6-1 O a day five days a week. We provide a safe environment for individuals to come to socialize and play games such as dominoes, cards, bingo or just come to visit. We send out nutrition education sheets to all of our clients to help show things to eat to stay healthy. 

For the last 42 years, we have provided a hot meal for over 50 senior citizens five days a week in Northern Clay County. Most meals are delivered to homes by our Volunteers. Some meals are picked up or ate here at the center. Sometimes our volunteers are the only people our Senior Citizens encounter, daily so we perform a well check while we are there. We ask the client is there anything we can do for you. We provide Christmas Bags to our client at Christmas with all kinds of goodies that they can eat, or use around the house. 

We have a food pantry inside our building for anyone that needs a little help we can provide can goods, cereal, shelf stable milk, canned fruit, soups and sometimes we have peanut butter and tuna. It is open Monday-Friday from 8:00am until noon. Anyone can take food out of it or we are always looking for donations to add more items in the pantry.
