Keep Olney Beautiful

We are fortunate to live in one of the best small towns in America. While many of us have roots that go back for generations, we are proud to welcome those who are new to town. Together we carry forward a rich history of people who are called to serve the community and do so with enthusiasm and vigor. Through beautification, clean-up, and renovation projects, Keep Olney Beautiful is committed to continuously pushing the community forward and we vow to aim high as we seek out projects that bring life to Olney. 

Born out of the Junior Altruistic Club, Keep Olney Beautiful organized with the realization of a need for improvements in our community. Starting first as a subcommittee of its parent organization, KOB included people from all walks of life. In 2013, Keep Olney Beautiful was officially awarded its 501(c)(3) nonprofit status.  

Over the years, among other projects, Keep Olney Beautiful has placed new light post banners throughout town, installed new decorative lighting downtown, built new Olney entrance signs on the East and West ends of town, and completed a full renovation of the Tom Griffin Park inclusive of a new playground structure, swing sets, benches, grills, shades, walking trails, and basketball goals. 

In 2024, to complete the multi-phase renovation project of Tom Griffin Park, Keep Olney Beautiful managed the construction of a new city pool which is now fully operational and open to the public. After several years of closures due to extensive maintenance, citizens of Olney now have another option to keep cool during the hot summer months and the Tom Griffin Park now has a fresh, vibrant look that all citizens can enjoy and be proud of.

Keep Olney Beautiful has many more projects in the works, and we hope to see them come to life very soon. With the completion of the new city pool, we hope to provide landscaping enhancements to the area along with new park lighting. We are also looking to add additional decorative lighting on Main Street and entrance signs on the north and south ends of town.

Olney is unique in the way the community binds together to make life better for each other, which never ceases to impress all those who visit. Keep Olney Beautiful is grateful for the support we receive from so many throughout Olney and beyond. As a board, we commit our time and energy to continue searching for ideas to better our community and see these same ideas come to fruition all over Olney.  We thank everyone who have donated money, labor, and their time to work with and for the organization.
